As a young person, most of us thought that we knew it all. As we have gotten older, we realized how much we did not know. When we look back we realize that our lives are not masterpieces. Our life is not a Rembrandt, or a Mona Lisa. For most of us, our life is more like a mosaic. A mosaic is the product of the combination of broken, fractured and fragmented materials. These broken items are put together by the artist to produce a beautiful thing.
God is the artist in our life that can piece back the fragments of a broken life to produce something beautiful. Though life may fall apart and be broken into a thousand pieces, there is a grace that will turn that broken experience into an opportunity for a new look.
In our scripture text, Paul is not looking into a problem, but back over the course of his life. At the time, it did not appear to be a gift. It was not evident at the time, but the end result is a beautiful gift.
When we are going through a suffering time, or a time of adversity, it is important to remember that in order to become something beautiful, sometimes requires being broken.
What we may view as a handicap, a set back or perhaps even the end in our life. It is imperative to remember that what we view as adversity should also be viewed as an opportunity for God to do a beautiful work.
Sometimes all that we require is that grace hold us. By realizing that what we perceive as a problem, God is using for our better, we can take comfort that grace will hold us. God said: âMy grace is enoughâ. Once Paul heard that, he said âI was glad to let it happenâ
Bring the broken fractured pieces and put them in the hand of God. Stop focusing on the handicap, and turn it over to God. His hand is gifted. The true beauty of a mosaic is not seen in the dark, but best viewed in the light. When we are in dark times, hold on and God will piece all back together.
